Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the first death of a patient tested positive with coronavirus has died.
The 44-year old male from China died Saturday, Feb. 1, and was reportedly to be (was) a companion of the first person confirmed with coronavirus in the country.
“Over the course of the patient’s admission he developed severe pneumonia. In his last few days, the patient was stable and showed signs of improvement. However, the condition of the patient deteriorated within the last 24 hours resulting in his demise,” DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III.
In a related news, President Rodrigo Duterte orders the implementation of temporary travel ban for all tourists coming from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau due to the threat of novel coronavirus. Filipinos who will be arriving from the mentioned places have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period upon arriving in the Philippines.
The Bureau of Quarantine will be assisting travelers and tourists before they will be led to immigration area for assessment, according to Dana Sandoval, Spokesperson, Bureau of Immigration.
