500K Makatizen Residents to Receive P5K to P20K Financial Assistance

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay knows how to capture the hearts of her constituents when she announced that 500,000 Makati citizens or Makatizens will receive financial aid beginning May 15.

Each resident will receive P5,000 and if he or she is married, the spouse will also get P5,000. If they have a son or daughter aged 18 years old and above, he/she is eligible to receive another P5,000. Additionally, if there is a senior household member, that person will also receive P5,000.

The financial assistance will be sent through electronic money transfer via the GCash mobile app.

Mayor Binay is alloting P2.7 billion for the expanded Makati Economic Relief Program also known as MAKA-tulong 5K for 500K+ Makatizens.

“The MAKA-tulong 5K for 500K+ Makatizens program, which will cost P2.7 billion, is intended to provide much-needed financial assistance to residents on individual basis, not per household, as we begin to emerge from thr prolonged lockdown,” said Binay during her livestreamed press conference via Facebook last May 11.

The cash aid is given to qualified Makatizens and those who were not able to receive DSWD’s SAP.

Binay said that recepients who does not have a GCash account will be assisted by the city government to create one to enjoy Makatizen’s benefits and privileges.
