Hobbs & Shaw Has Proven Itself Worthy to be Part of the Fast & Furious Saga

I wasn’t convinced that Hobbs & Shaw would fit right into the Fast & Furiousverse but when the F9 official movie trailer was finally dropped, not giving Hobbs & Shaw a proper credit would be an understatement.

When the Fast & Furious spin-off was released, I thought this will just be a one-shot Johnson-Statham collab and will ruin The Fast Saga. “Without the original cast of FF, this will fail,” sabe ko noon sa sarili ko. But of course I was wrong because Hobbs & Shaw (also known as Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Show; also known as Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw) grossed over $760 million worlwide and is the tenth highest-grossing film in 2019.

I was wrong because Hobbs & Shaw was an awesome action packed movie with interesting storyline naman pala. The bonus part was the Ryan Reynolds’ and Kevin Hart’s cameo. You didn’t see that coming, di ba?

I got interested in revisiting Hobbs & Shaw after I saw the official trailer of F9, the ninth (or tenth, if you’ll count Hobbs & Shaw into the saga) installment of the FF franchise.

In my opinion, Hobbs & Shaw was better than Fate of the Furious when it comes to high energy action and fast speed chasing cars – a Fast and Furious trademark.

The secrecy of who runs Eteon and introduction of new characters in Hobbs & Shaw could lead the spin-off into returning with a sequel, building its own franchise within (or outside) the Fast & Furious universe.

Vanessa Kirby (Hattie) is not just a pretty face here but she can pull a punch like a fierce Black Widow.

And Idris Elba as Brixton portrayed a skillful villain you don’t want to mess around with.

And since the upcoming F9 trailer gave us a wonderful surprise, hindi kaya si Han ang the man behind the voice of Eteon’s director? Hmmm…

FYI, Han was supposedly killed in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift by Deckard Shaw but is somehow returning (and yes, he is alive!) in F9. How he came back from the dead is what I can’t wait to find out. Please, May 2020, be fast!
