Ballet Manila artistic director and CEO, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, invited the press for an exclusive sneak preview of Sleeping Beauty with four excerpts by the main casts earlier at the BM home studio in Pasay.
The timeless classic story of Sleeping Beauty will be performed on Jan. 18-19 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.
The last of the On Pointe trilogy, Sleeping Beauty wasn’t supposed to go on after the fire incident that befell Star City last October 2019, according to the prima ballerina herself. But after weighing things and keeping the spirit for the love of ballet, Ballet Manila decided to continue with the last episode.
Jasmine Pia Dames and Romeo Peralta take on the lead roles as Princess Aurora and Prince Philip of this new ballet based on Charles Perrault’s story of a cursed princess doomed to sleep for a hundred years until her true love awakens her with a kiss will include a number of plot twists and new characters to enchant the audience.
