ABS-CBN News Channels Unstoppable Despite Shutdown

Despite shutdown of one of the major broadcasting network in the Philippines, ABS-CBN bounces back and returns to the screen to deliver current news and important updates on COVID-19 and related franchise renewal matters via social media and cable channels.

ICYMI, NTC served the cease and desist order on ABS-CBN to shutdown amidst the ongoing franchise renewal bill review in the hands of the Congress.

This morning, House Speaker Alan Cayetano blamed NTC for ‘succumbing to the pressure’ of the ‘unconstitutional meddling’ by SolGen Calida over the ABS-CBN franchise renewal issue. Meanwhile, some lawmakers lifted their hands off the issue blaming Cayetano for the network shutdown.

Anyways, even with the cease and desist order and shutdown, the network found alternative platforms to continue its service to the Filipino people. Actually, these platforms are not new for the network. Cable channels, online video channels, social media, and their official website has been around for many years where Filipinos here and abroad can watch their news programs anywhere, anytime.

TV Patrol came back last night, May 7, via YouTube and today, May 8, DZMM TeleRadyo returns on cable.

These digital platform media like iWant app, Facebook, YouTube, among others, are available online for people who want to watch and get updated on ABS-CBN and ANC programs.
